The Guys say...
The FZ200 and HS50EXR are two fantastic cameras for still photography, but for very different reasons. The FZ200's 24x zoom lens maintains a constant f/2.8 aperture, making it ideal for low light and depth-of-field control. On the other hand, the HS50EXR's 42x manual zoom lens emulates the feel of a much more expensive DSLR and is ideal for rapid zoom changes. Both cameras have extensive manual controls and RAW support. Both cameras can shoot continuously at speeds in excess of 10 frames per second at full resolution. The FZ200 has a lower-resolution rear LCD but has an edge in video shooting, since a powered zoom is much easier to use in that application. Which camera you choose comes down to which one has the features you need at the price you're comfortable with.
