The Guys say...

Both the SL1000 and the SX50 feature 50x optical zoom lenses, but the SL1000 is a newer camera and it shows in several areas. Its 920k dot rear LCD is double the resolution of the SX50's 461k dot LCD, and its lens has a maximum aperture of f/2.9 instead of the SX50's f/3.4. The SL1000 is slightly heavier and slightly larger, but not enough to make a difference to most users. The SL1000 has faster high-speed movies, and it can shoot 1080i/60. Both cameras can shoot in RAW, and both have continuous shooting over 10 frames per second. In other words, the differences between the two are relatively small, so which one you pick is largely a function of which feels better in your hands and costs less at the time.
